North Carolina foreclosures down 32%

The number of new foreclosures in North Carolina during May dropped nearly 32 percent from the same month a year ago, new data from RealtyTrac show.
The California company says there were 2,587 foreclosure filings in the state, or one for every 1,594 homes, during the month. That is down 31.7 percent from May 2008, when 3,786 foreclosure notices were filed.
On a month-to-month basis, foreclosure filings were down 16 percent from April to May.
Cannonsgate lawsuit put on hold

OCEAN — The lawsuit alleging mortgage fraud against developers and others involved with sales of lots in the upscale Cannonsgate subdivision, where former Gov. Mike Easley purchased a soundside lot, and other similar development in North Carolina and South Carolina appears to be on hold, the attorney handling the case said recently.
